Callaway Of the Month January '04
Welcome! The Callaway Owners Group is dedicated to the preservation of the world's most powerful Corvette.
Josh Henderson's 1988 Callaway Corvette
This month, we are featuring Josh Henderson’s 1988 Callaway Twin Turbo Corvette.
Josh is no stranger to Callaway Corvettes, as he had admired them for many years, searching for the right one. After months and months of searching for the right Callaway, last fall, he took the plunge and bought as new of a B2K as he could, a 1988 Callaway Corvette, which had never been titled. Josh’s B2K was ordered new by a New York car dealer and kept in his personal collection the entire time and still was on its “MSO” Manufacturers Statement of Origin. Josh inked the deal on the car, after buying a one-way ticket from Florida and pointed the car south, heading for home. This is where Josh began to understand the significance of the Callaway as it looks like any other 1988 Vette from the outside, Josh discovered the sweet sounds of the turbos spooling along the way home, demonstrating for anyone who inquired J
Josh’s Callaway is finished on the outside in Bright Red and wears a Black Sport Leather interior. Josh shifts through the gears manually with the 4+3 transmission going back to the 3.07 gears from the factory. His B2K is loaded with options, featuring the Electronic A/C, Bose Stereo, and a host of additional options to make for one plush steamroller. The Callaway also is fitted with the 17 inch Callaway Dymags and was upgraded at the Old Lyme shop, in 1992 with the upgraded Wonderbar – a frame piece that acts as part of the air inlet tract, which was revised, allowing greater flow to the turbos and more power.
Since bringing the Callaway South to Florida, the Callaway has been used for pleasure and Josh shows it frequently. Josh has taken the car to events all over the Southeast parts of Florida and Georgia and the Callaway grabs attention wherever it stops. Josh recently had the car tested at a chassis dynamometer with some impressive results – Josh’s B2K laid down 406 rwhp and 536 ft-lbs of torque – At the rear wheels!!! Very nice numbers Josh J
