The 2004 Bloomington Gold Special Collection XX
Bloomington Gold
Special Collection XX, retrospect by Luis Suau.
Only of a couple of days ago, I returned from one of the
most spectacular Automotive events that I have had the pleasure of participating
in, the 2004 Bloomington Gold USA Corvette show in St. Charles, Il. This, one of
the most respected and attended of Corvette shows, featured the Special
Collection XX, The Corvettes of Reeves Callaway. I was honored that my car, a
1991 Turquoise Metallic Callaway Twin Turbo Aerobody Convertible was one of the
cars which comprised the Special Collection.
Though it was a lot of work to help set up for the show, clean my car, and then
rearrange the cars on several occasions, I still managed to take an impressive
number of pictures in hopes that at least a good portion of them would be of
decent quality for the enjoyment of friends, family, and other Callaway owners
and enthusiasts.
On this CD, you will find mostly pictures of Callaway Cars and the Special
Collection from the time the ballroom was beginning to be set up. Due to the
large amount of the original pictures (about 2.34 Gigabytes worth), I had to
reduce the size and the quality of the pictures in order that they may fit on
the CD.
There were an impressive number of Callaway Cars at this event, and some of the
rarest ever created. There were also some very rare Callaway cars at the Auction
and in the GoldField. Chris Chessnoe and Mike Zoner put on a very informative
Callaway class which covered an introduction, overview, and details about
Callaway Corvettes. And there was a special appearance by Reeves Callaway to
present the Special Collection certificates and pins, and as always sign plenty
of autographs, vehicles, and momentos as requested. The collection was dedicated
to a great member of the Corvette hobby, the late Chip Miller who lost his
battle with Amyliodosis on March 25, 2004, and which I had the pleasure of
meeting in person at the Corvettes at Carlisle 2002 show.
I just want to Thank Chris Chessnoe, Mike Zoner, and William Locke for all of
the hard work that went in putting together this event and for the support of
the Bloomington Gold Staff, the Callaway Owners Group and Callaway Cars in
making this spectacular event happen.
Enjoy the pictures,
-Luigi (Luis Suau)
