Sport Truck towing and payload capacity
Hi.
Am considering a Silverado Callaway Sport Truck -- the ones where Callaway lowers the truck, not the raised Rocky Ridge edition. Does the work done by Callaway affect (negatively) the towing and/or payload capacity?

I have an SC540, Crew Cab-Short Bed - 4WD with 22" 10 spoke Rims, the Callaway 2" Drop Front/Rear with the recalibrated Bilsteins and Lemans Brakes. I have not run into any issues with Payload or Towing (an 18' Open Car trailer) with mine. It does handle excellent and stops on a dime.

"Updated dampers, springs, and anti-roll bars are at the the core of the Callaway truck's suspension upgrades, which are chiefly responsible for delivering improved handling and body dynamics - a particularly challenging task with such massive vehicles. As a part of the suspension system's implementation, the truck's ride height has also been reduced by 2.5 inches at the front and 5 inches at the rear axle, primarily to decrease spring and damper displacement and lower its center of gravity.
Although this predatory stance makes for flatter cornering, it admittedly impedes towing and hauling capabilities. For those who require a rig that can handle a trailer and other pragmatic applications, a 4WD version based on a 2500HD Silverado with a stock ride height is available as well."

I guess any modifications that would reduce the capabilities of a truck; is just not for me.

None of the SportTrucks reduce payload with optional Level I Suspension, but with Level II, it's diminished.
Callaway does not change the payload of tow ratings up or down, but my experience is the trucks tow a whole lot easier than base. I Ince towed a 24' enclosed trailer from New York to Illinois - and back. No issues through the mountains.
Good luck with your choices.

Beautiful truck -- that is the body style I am considering. Do you know if you have a Level I or Level II suspension? (see discussion above)

I think it's the Level 1 but not 100% sure, I do know that I did not want the full drop in the rear so made all 4 corners the same. The Truck gets just as much attention as the Vette, especially with the hood open.

Level II is a flip of the axle and very low.
